Thompson Family Photos: Bottineau, North Dakota

A few days ago, I went up to Bottineau North Dakota to photograph the Thompson Family!! I was excited for this session because this was my first time in that area. With hills, lakes, and trees—it was a beautiful location for family photos in North Dakota!!

Classic portraits are SO important—these are the photos that will be printed and displayed on walls and albums, but I take a little different approach to photo sessions..

My approach to photography: yes I will nail those classic portraits, but once I know I have a few photos where everyone has their eyes open (lol Zach) and is smiling at the camera I get to capture what I LOVE—REAL emotion!! And let me tell you, this family nailed it. When I look at the above photo I don’t think “oh, wow that’s a nice photo,’ I think “WOW—what a great MOMENT and memory for these grandparents.” My goal is to capture moments, memories, and real emotions.
